Financial Aid Process of The Northwest School

Our Philosophy

The Northwest School is committed to educating a socio-economically diverse student body. Our financial aid application process is designed to help us achieve this goal as fairly as possible. Independent school education is a choice, which the school and families make significant financial sacrifices to support. Our policies ensure that we apply uniform guidelines to every family that applies for aid. Families can begin the application process for financial aid on November 1, 2011. All financial aid forms for new families are due by February, 10, 2012. Returning families forms are due by February 3, 2012.

How It Works

The Northwest School awards financial aid based on the demonstrated need of the family. Therefore, our awards range from a small amount of assistance to the full cost of tuition. We use the Parents’ Financial Statement, designed by the School and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS), as well as the family's complete tax returns, to determine the contribution your family should make towards educational expenses. We encourage families to apply online at sss.nais.org/parents. This will allow The Northwest School to make a faster decision about your family's eligibility for financial aid.

Expenses to Anticipate: Tuition for 2011-12 Academic Year

Middle School (Grades 6-8)

Lunch & Books: $1,405
Total: $26,665

Upper School (Grades 9-12)
Tuition: $27,015

A family will need to be able to pay approximately $2,500 per month for 10 months to afford full tuition. If you cannot afford that amount, your family should consider applying for aid.
